Exeter City F.C. Supporters’ Trust welcomes new 3G pitch
New Exeter Badge

Being a Supporter owned club, Exeter City F.C. have to carefully consider how any money is spent.  With no big money owner or investor, the Club follows a strict ethos of ‘living within our means’.

It has long been a dream to have an all-weather facility to aid the training of footballers of all levels within the club, so when recently finances allowed, the Supporters’ Trust were pleased to support the Club’s investment in a state of the art 3G pitch at the Cliff Hill Training Ground. This new facility was recently opened and we are delighted at the use already being made of it.

The 3G arena has been built to exactly the same dimensions as St James’ Park and consists of an artificial carpet set on a cork infill.

Martin Weiler, Chair of the Trust attended the official opening of the pitch and commented:

“This really shows Exeter City is going places. It is the first of its type to be laid in this country and has been hailed as the best”.

“The Trust backed its construction because we want to see the Club develop. We have already seen the benefits of the first team being able to continue training at the Cliff Hill when the grass pitches are unplayable.

“The pitch is a monument to the fantastic work of our academy. It was funded from part of the sale of Matt Grimes, one of our many Academy products.

“It will be a brilliant resource for so many – the first team, the Academy, the Ladies team, Football in the Community and many local clubs. We are all really proud of this community asset built by a true community Club”.
