Mission of Supporters Direct

It was agreed that the mission of SD was to promote the issues of ownership, representation and influence of supporters in their clubs within the UK. It was noted that ownership could be at several different levels.

Strategic Aims

It was agreed that the strategic aims for SD should be to;

  • Promote the skills SD has to run clubs
  • Obtain a foothold at higher levels of the football league
  • Change the terms of the debate around football ownership and governance

Conference and AGM

It was agreed there would be a one day conference in Autumn 2009, but in 2010 there should be an End of Season two-day Conference to include a meaningful AGM with questions and answers from members. There would also be a review of how best to promote involvement from members in Scotland.

Standing Orders

A set of standing orders, a schedule of powers reserved for the board, financial controls and a schedule of meeting would be brought to the next meeting for approval.

New staff

It was agreed that DB should proceed with the recruitment of a senior position.

Re-invigorating Trusts

It was agreed that SD should look at use of new technology to encourage participation, especially from younger members, and we would be contributing £5K to a research project being undertaken by the RSA and NCVO looking at using new technology to engage members.

Magazine

It was agreed that a report would be produced by DB considering the magazine but also broadening out to include other more general communication issues.
