Whats a Wiki? For those of you unfamiliar with the wiki concept, a wiki is like an online encyclopaedia, but is centred on collaborative knowledge enabling its users to take ownership of the content by making changes to the pages. The changes are immediate, made by either editing existing content or by creating whole new pages on different topics or ideas. Editing a page is extremely simple and once saved will then become the live version on the wiki site for the next reader, resulting in the pages being constantly changed to reflect readers own experiences and knowledge. The following video explains more http://www.commoncraft.com/video-wikis-plain-english Why a Wiki?In an environment where 99% of the work is done on a voluntary basis, sharing ideas and solutions to achieve common goals makes perfect sense. Fuelled by the conversations that we had at the conference in October, we wanted to find a way to better share these success stories and we believe we have found the ideal tool. How can I get the most out of it?If it is just information you are after the wiki already contains a wide range of useful stuff, from running a beer festival to the recommended election process. The best ways to navigate the site are to either use the search box on the left hand side of the page or to browse the page categories which can be accessed by clicking on 'subject index' at the top of this page or by clicking here [1] Remember if anyone has an idea that has proven successful and they believe others would like to hear then the wiki canvass awaits - to contribute you just need to register your email address at the top right corver of this page, log in and away you go! |
